Umbilical Discharge in newborn babies

If you see pus, or notice a foul smell emanating from the umbilical cord, this could lead to infections like Sepsis, or even Tetanus. If the skin around the cord looks red, this could also be an infection. Consult your doctor immediately. In future, make sure that you keep the umbilical cord clean and dry.
