Taking the kids to a Picnic?

Theme: Picnic

‘We are all going for a picnic this sunday’! Say this and you are bound to hear all the children exult a loud ‘Yeah’! A picnic party is something that everyone enjoys, especially children.

A picnic is enjoyed most in practical play clothes in which children can tumble around, burrow through the bushes, and occasionally splash in puddles. So, ask the children to come dressed in casuals – jeans, shorts, T-shirt, bermudas or comfortable skirts and frocks.

Preparing for a picnic:

  • When you are inviting children to a picnic party, make sure the place is not very far.
  • Food is the most important element of any party. For a picnic you will need food that you can easily carry.A few suggestions as to what you can take:
  • Crates of cold drinks. Take the jumbo bottles and dispense in disposable glasses.
  • Onions, tomatoes, cucumber, cheese and bread.
  • Puri-aloo and pickle to supplement it with.
  • Patties, biscuits, rolls, wafers, muffins. While packing your picnic basket, don’t forget these things:
  • Sheets to spread on the grass.
  • Disposable plates, spoons, glasses and tissue paper packet(s). Children are bound to come and ask you again and again for tissue paper so make sure you carry that in bulk.
  • Knife, scissors, peeler, bottle opener, salt and pepper, tomato sauce or ketchup.
  • An ice box.
  • Water bottles/container.
  • A large paper/plastic to collect all the garbage.
  • A first aid box.
  • Music system and cassettes. Hey, don’t forget the batteries!
  • Skipping ropes, frisbees, rings, balls, cricket/baseball gear, badminton racquets. While you are there:
  • Take care about the safety of all children. Do not settle near a water body, if there is one.
  • Assign a number to each of the children and keep a check from time to time.
  • Tell them not to venture very far.The next time you want to have a party in fine weather, don’t plan a party at home, plan a picnic instead.
